Pinterest: posting rules and settings
What a Pinterest channel accepts in Postemi: media, limits, required fields, and the fields of the settings object for the API.
Until Pinterest approves Posty, your pins are visible only to you.
Basics
pinterestPost types
The same channel accepts more than one kind of post, and each kind has different requirements. The table shows what you need for each.
| Type | Media | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pin with an image | 1 image, required | The board is required, and it expects an ID. |
| Pin with a video | 1 video and 1 cover picture | The cover picture is the second attachment. |
Rules
- The board is required, and it expects an ID, not a name. You fetch the list of boards with the channel's tool call.
Settings fields
These fields go into the post's settings object, alongside the __type field. In the UI, you fill in the same ones in the channel's settings section.
| Field | Type | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| board | string (id) | yes | The destination board ID. |
| title | string, up to 100 characters | no | The pin title. |
| link | string (URL) | no | The pin's destination URL. |
| dominant_color | string | no | The pin's dominant color, as a hex code. |
Examples
Each example is one item in the POST /public/v1/posts request's posts array. The envelope around it is always this:
{
"type": "schedule",
"date": "2026-09-15T09:00:00.000Z",
"shortLink": false,
"posts": [ /* the item below */ ]
}Pin with a destination URL
The board ID comes from the channel tool call: POST /integration-trigger/:id, methodName "boards".
{
"integration": { "id": "<pinterest-channel>" },
"value": [{
"content": "<p>The pin description.</p>",
"image": [{ "id": "<media>", "path": "https://uploads.posty.hu/pin.jpg" }]
}],
"settings": {
"__type": "pinterest",
"board": "<board-id>",
"title": "The pin title",
"link": "https://example.com/product"
}
}The channel ID comes from the channel list, and the path values for images and videos from media upload. The exact schema for the connected account comes from the settings schema endpoint. From the command line, the same thing is the --settings flag. See the CLI examples.
