Comparison

Postemi vs. Hootsuite

Hootsuite is strong at holding a larger team's work together: a social inbox, approval flows and detailed reports. Postemi is more interesting if you want a clear calendar, recurring posts and a system you can also drive with an AI agent, at a much lower fixed plan price.

What Hootsuite does well

  • It builds detailed, customisable reports, watches competitors and helps with exportable summaries. Postemi's analytics are still in beta.
  • The social inbox gathers comments, messages and mentions in one place. You can also split them among team members. Postemi has no social inbox.
  • Approval rounds, roles and organisational units fit well when many people work on the same accounts. Postemi handles roles and workspaces, but it has no multi-step approval round.
  • It has four MCP servers, and it also connects to other systems with a public API and webhooks. Claude Code, OpenClaw, Codex, Hermes and Muse can drive it too.
  • OwlyWriter AI writes copy, AI generates images, and the Canva integration helps with visual editing. We took these out of Postemi on purpose: you connect your own model.
  • The Chrome extension lets you collect and share content while you browse. Hootsuite Academy materials can also be used for a team's internal social media training.

When should you pick Hootsuite instead?

Hootsuite is the better pick if your team needs to process incoming comments and messages in one place, needs multi-step approval, or regularly builds detailed, custom reports. Postemi is stronger where a visual calendar, recurring posts, media editing and AI-agent control matter, and large-company workflows do not.

Why switch to Postemi?

  • Full agent control. From the Pro plan you get an MCP server, a public API, webhooks, posty-cli and a SKILL.md for agents. Hootsuite has MCP, an API and webhooks too, but no command-line tool. Postemi's full combination is available from $25 a month.
  • Lower, more predictable price. Pro with ten accounts is $25 a month, and for a team, Creator with 15 users is $49. Hootsuite's ten-account Standard plan is about $99 per user per month on yearly billing, so the price also goes up with the second colleague.
  • A more flexible content calendar. In the drag-and-drop calendar you can work in day, week and month views, and you can set recurring posts. From the Creator plan, next to the media library you also get an image editor, a video editor and UGC templates.
  • Support from the founder. Every payment gets a VAT invoice. If you have a question, Norbi, the founder, replies.

Frequently asked questions

How much cheaper is Postemi than Hootsuite?
Basic is $13 a month with five social accounts. Pro with ten accounts is $25, and Creator with 15 users is $49. Hootsuite Standard is about $99 per user per month on yearly billing, with ten accounts. Every extra user raises the fee. The Hootsuite price is indicative.
What can Hootsuite do that Postemi cannot?
It has a social inbox, a multi-step approval flow, more detailed analytics, a Chrome extension, and a built-in AI copywriter and image generation. Postemi's analytics are still in beta, and we left AI generation out on purpose: through MCP, the API or the CLI, your own model can work with your calendar.
Which platforms does Postemi support that Hootsuite does not?
Postemi also publishes to Telegram, Discord and Slack. Hootsuite does not treat these as publishing platforms. It uses Slack for notifications only. Both systems handle the major platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Threads and Bluesky.
Does Postemi or Hootsuite have a free plan?
Neither has a free plan. You can try Postemi for seven days with a card. Hootsuite's trial is 14 days and does not ask for a card. You can cancel either anytime.
Can I bring my scheduled posts over from Hootsuite?
There is no automatic or bulk CSV import. You can upload the media to Postemi's media library, paste the copy, then place the posts in the drag-and-drop calendar.
Why should I pick Postemi over Hootsuite?
Postemi handles 12 social platforms from one editor, with unlimited posts on every plan. You also get recurring posts, plus a video editor and UGC templates from Creator. From Pro, your own AI agent can drive the calendar through MCP, the API and the CLI. Switching is worth it if these matter more to you than Hootsuite's social inbox, approval rounds and detailed reports.
